There's been a few questions about using iBox on Android, so here's some info about that.

iBox uses HLS video streaming. Support for HLS was introduced in Android 3.2, so in theory any Android device with 3.2 or higher should work OK. And it does work fine on most devices, but we have seen one or two that it does not work on.

So if you are planning to use an Android device to watch iBox, its important that you go to our website and test it using the Free Sample page, before you sign-up. If the Free Sample works, your device should be OK.

Also, we have an Android app in the works, which has some nice features. We'll announce the app here, when its ready.

Our Android app is now available on Google Play. It's simply called iBox.

If you are using an Android phone or tablet, we recommend using the app, instead of watching TV on our website. Some Android devices have problems playing video from the website.

Also, if you have a Google TV box, we have a special version of the iBox app on Google Play, just for Google TV. This one is called iBox for Google TV.

One other thing I forgot to mention, if you are using the iBox Android app on a Nexus 7 tablet, using Android 4.1.1, there's a bug in Android which affects the "favourites" screen of the iBox app. If you try to edit the list of favourite channels, the app will crash. Otherwise the app works fine on the Nexus 7.

We hope to have a solution to this problem soon.

Hi,

I'm a new customer of iBox as of yesterday (Sept 19th).

I signed up with PayPal for the iBox on thr Go Monthly Subscirption for €10 PM.

I have to say I'm very impressed so far.

The App install was very quick & went smoothly (although I had trouble finding the app in the Google Store so not sure why I couldn't find it easily but its easily found as of this morning on a re-check in the store).

I'm currently running it on an Android ICS Tablet & the quality is really excellent on all the channels I've tested so far. Picture perfect, audio in sync with the video, & good quality just like my Netflix is.

The App interface is well designed - simple & uncluttered, but easy & effective in what its meant to do. I find I can see all the channels easily in one place, switch between them quickly, have abilty to see what's on now on each channel etc..

I've also a few questions that I'm hoping you won't mind answering please:

1. My understanding is that I'm not tied into a long term (eg annual ) subscripion & that I can cancel at any point. I'm presuming that because I pay my €10 monthly subscription 'up front' each month that if I do cancel at any point in that month , that I'll continue to receive the service for the remainder of that month & then have no further charges from the following month - can you comfirm please if I have the correct understanding ?

2. At what point (or date if there is one) do I need to cancel in any month to ensure I'm not charged for the following month(s) ?

3. What is the cancellation process to ensure, I do it correctly first time if/when I need to do it ? (Eg - I can go into my PayPal Account & delete the €10 Monthly Subscription myself but is that all I need to do ?)

4. If I cancel, can I re-join at a later stage again with the same username/password/email credentials ?

5. I've several Internet connected devices at home. I've so far tested this service on an Android Tablet but I'd also like to test on my iPod Touch & Android Phone. Is there any problem with me doing this (eg installing the app on my other devices) & will the service work on all the devices (I'm not expecting it, nor would I require it to work simultaneously on all devices - its just if I wanted to switch beteen devices etc..) ?

Thanks again to you & the iBox Team for this interesting service / proposition, that has been well executed so far & hopefully you'll be able to help answer my questions please.

Cheers.

Yes that's right. You are not on a contract. If you cancel (for example) on October 10th, your service will stop at the beginning of November.

For people like yourself, who are using PayPal, we prefer a minimum of 3 working days notice, by email, before the end of the month. For people paying by credit card or direct debit, we prefer to get 5 working days notice, by email, before the end of the month. If people give us less notice than that, we will do our best to accommodate them, but we can't guarantee that we'll get the payment stopped in time.

Its OK with us if you just want to cancel the subscription in your PayPal account. PayPal will notify us that it stopped. You don't need to email us if you don't want to. I guess in an ideal world it would be nice if you emailed us to let us know, so we can make a note of it on your account, and close off the account etc.

Right now, that won't work. If you attempt to sign up again with the same user name, it'll prevent you. We plan to amend this, so you can pause and restart your account as often as you like, but it'll be a little while before we get around to it. In the meantime, if you email us, we can manually fix up your account, when you want to restart it.

You can install the app on as many devices as you want, but you'll only be able to use one of them at a time to watch TV. When you login to the second one, it'll automatically log-out the first one, etc. Also, you don't need an app on the iOS devices. You should be able to watch TV directly on our website, on them.
